This morning on Open To Obsoletes, Ify and Producer Grace decided to once again switch things up and twattled about some obsolete sayings that are no longer used!
Today's obsolete sayings were:
Off the Cob: meaning “corny”
Happy Cabbage: “a sizable amount of money to be spent on self-satisfying things.”
Hump The Swag: to carry your luggage on your back.
Leanaway: Someone who is tipsy.
George Eddy: a customer who doesn’t tip well.
Carrying tackle, being on a left-handed honeymoon, or in Shakespeare’s time, groping for trout in a peculiar river: all of these are obsolete sayings for getting caught cheating on your significant other that were used a century ago.
