@lukemdezilva <- for submissions and 👋

Surfacing is dedicated to experimental and outsider songwriters and composers exploring interesting musical territories.

This week’s playlist theme is ‘colour theory’, inspired by a text from my 6-year-old niece (below). Colour theory oversimplified, depending how you approach it, is the determination of what colours ‘go together', subjectively or scientifically (or both). At its simplest, tonight’s playlist features a bunch of songs referencing my favourite colour – blue – and at its most thought out, it’s about artists with significant contrast within single songs or across their broader bodies of work, and the ways they create harmonious worlds out of disparate materials, shades and tones.

Hi Lukey lubo 💕🐕🌞😻😹💙🩵💚💛🧡❤️🧡🩵💜🩷
P:s what is your favourite colour?
