this week on mubi monday, i spoke about the best show of all time "the new years". a collaboration between spanish and french production companies, the limited series does the impossible and capture love in all its forms in its 10 40-minute episodes. i cannot emphasise how much of an essential watch this series is.
it follows oscar and ana, who discover they were (respectively) born on new years eve and new years day over ten years. you see how their connection manifests each year. sometimes as friends, sometimes as lovers, sometimes as nuisances of sentimental value past.
it is the single most earnest piece of media i've ever consumed, you HAVE to check it out.
