In the studio today I am joined by co-founder of Parallel, mi.key ( 嘉乐) and event producer, Indiyah, of Parallel and sub-culture.
Parallel is a Gadigal based collective celebrating music culture. From hosting emerging local talent all the way to household names like Kia and Reptant, Parallel has become a fixture in Eora’s underground music scene. Most recently Parallel has launched a sub collective called subculture. subculutre is a community-driven music collective featuring sounds brought to you by local FLINTA artists across the electronic music spectrum. Built on a shared love for underground music culture, subculture creates spaces for discovery, connection and expression, with FLINTA at the forefront of the conversation.
The crew will be sharing some Eora music with us today and then at the end we will have a bit of a chat about their journey with running events here in Eora so stick around!
We will also be giving away two tickets to their TBA location party this weekend, it’s halloween themed featuring sets from Ed Kent, Fuchsia and Bats. All you need to do is text in 0435 123 945 - what is the best connection you've ever made on a dance floor.
Thanks for tuning in!
mi.key ( 嘉乐):
Gadigal (Sydney, Australia) born with Chinese roots, mi.key balances dynamic synths, fluid percussion with breaks and driving bass lines. Influenced by 2000s prog and electro, his sets invite introspection and effortless dance. Between co-founding Parallel, he’s prepared multiple EP releases which will no doubt be tested on soundscapes near you. Having supported the likes of Mabel, DJ Scorpion, Moopie and Sleep D + several community mixes under his belt, his work ethic speaks for itself.
