Since debuting its live experience for the second Strata Festival in 2023, Sydney multi-instrumentalist and composer Jacques Emery has enlisted a new ensemble to bring his forthcoming record The Wellspring back to life. Taking place at the Red Rattler this Wednesday as part of SIMA's fifth iteration of Jazz Now, Jacques kindly came in to chat about the record ahead of the live immersion; and even let us listen to a few of The Wellspring's tracks. Grab your tickets to Jazz Now here.

In the midst of their residency at Lazy Thinking, members of GODTET invite a special guest each week to pepper your Monday with their cheekily titled side project DEVILTET.

Brisbane trio East of West and Sydney pianist Romano Crivici are due to release their collaborative LP Pastorale this Thursday, 31st August; though have kindly offered an advanced listen on opening track 'Where is Your Accent From?'

Melbourne four piece Birdsnake masterfully find the balance between the crisp of digital against the rough of analogue; as displayed in their debut Birdsnake Begins EP. Following on from the 2023 release sees the band's stand alone single 'Rare Amulet'. Aquatic and elemental, the flirtatious dance of our Mother's sublime is heralded, as the band find inspiration through the small magical moments of the natural world. Specifically imbued by the diamond formations of the sandy sea floor as the sun refracts the shallows, local harpist Genevieve Fry quantifies the textural serene scene to complete this gorgeous new tune.

:: MIDI MEDITATION ::
Chicago clarinetist, singer and composer Angel Bat Dawid liberated her album The Oracle in 2019; her debut International Anthem release. An improvised masterpiece, it serves as the catalyst to a prosperous career; for Dawid created the body of work entirely solo using her mobile phone. To be later overdubbed and layered with the voice and lo-fi symphonies of Asher Gamedze, we peep into not only the creative prowess, but complete raw, DIY rebellion of two incredibly forward thinking musicians.
