A jovial zest for life through the music of the omnipresent Kokoroko

All seven members of Kokoroko either standing, sitting or spread out on the ground. They are huddled together staring into the camera before a plain white wall, on wooden floorbards.

South London septet Kokoroko have just released their second record Tuff Times Never Last through Gilles Peterson's notable label Brownswood Recordings. A study on the dualities of life, they paint each stride with a smile and rush of colour, for taking the positive route makes a life worth living. Ahead of touring the album, in which they'll be returning to Australia this November, Kokoroko bandleaders Sheila Maurice-Grey and Onome Edgeworth graciously gave me their time for an insightful chat. Grab tickets to their Metro show here.
