Interview - Today I had a beautiful conversation with clinical psychologist and zine-maker Dr. Xi Liu about Chicken Feet of Fury, the third edition in their Noodles & Neurosis series. The zine sits at the intersection of culture, queerness, and mental health, exploring themes like: Mistrust and abuse schemas (with US social worker Robin Spiro) Anger as a tool for healing in marginalised communities (with EMDR consultant Mish Kumar Jonson), Intergenerational trauma in mental health systems.

Chicken Feet of Fury will be launched at a very special free event on July 31 at the Bearded Tit - Register here - featuring readings and a panel with Benjamin Law, Adrian Mouhajer, and Sayaka Sayeed.
Together they'll unpack questions like: How do queer children of migrants talk about mental health without feeling like we’re betraying our families? And how can writing, activism, and community care hold space for complexity and nuance?

Dr. Xi Liu will also be putting on (what sounds to be) an incredible piece of work for Sydney Fringe Festival called In Session - Experience an unscripted psychotherapy performance by two Clinical Psychologists, exploring race, gender, sexuality, and trauma. This unique performance demystifies therapy and offers real-time insights into healing and vulnerability. In Session is an improvised therapy performance, developed and produced by Clinical Psychologists Xi Liu and Saria Green. Blending their expertise in Schema Therapy and creative arts, Saria and Xi devised this show to dismantle the traditional frame of psychotherapy by placing unscripted therapy sessions on the stage. In doing so, they demystify the therapeutic process and create a space for vicarious healing

In Session debuted at Sydney Fringe Festival 2024, with three sold-out shows and an award nomination for Best in Immersive and Interactive. Following their performance at Adelaide Fringe Festival in 2025, the show also earned a 4-star review in Glam Adelaide. Tickets

Other things spoken about - Bawuypawuy (Music video) is the debut release of Drifting Clouds, the solo project of Yolngu musician Terry Guyula. The song is a modern adaptation of a millennia old Songline passed from generations, blending tradition with Guyula’s eclectic musical style. Guyula sings in his first language: Liyawulma’mirr-Djambarrpuyngu, a language of Yolngu Matha, the lyrics describe a traditional Songline of the sea, waves and currents become stronger, rough and tough in Arnhem Bay (Gupawupa).
