Race Matters / No data centres out west!

25.10.26
Aired on 25.10.26, 10:00am

Today on the show we are taking a trip out West. Further down the trainline, down the river. To the concrete jungle, urban oasis that is Western 'sydney.'

To where the 'australian' settler-colonial government has decided to dump dozens of brand new, life draining, earth eroding, AI data centres.

Samantha Haran and Janey Li get into these proposed Western 'sydney' data centres, and together reflect on what it means to bring our communities together to meaningfully organise around preventing them - and to organise for alternative, liberated futures on the other side. They listen back to an interview with Arwen, a community organiser with Alliance Against AI, and a series of voice notes from community members and Stop the Slop! organisers living out west.

“At the risk of seeming ridiculous, let me say that the true revolutionary is guided by a great feeling of love."  - Che Guevara [slightly misquoted by Samantha in this episode, sorryy]
