Hand Clap, is the moniker of Maya Borjesson, an Architect and visual/sound Artist. Using synthesizers, spoken word, and field recordings, their compositions explore themes of connection, memory, nostalgia and grief.
This year Hand Clap embarked on a tour of Japan, supported Penelope Trappes and presented 'A Thread Beneath Our Skin' at No Vacancy Gallery. This body of visual and sound work, traced the layered and intimate terrain of connection between individuals, identities, and past and present selves it was a practice of listening outward, as well as, to the quiet within.
Hand Clap's practice is deeply personal and sits at the crossroads of ambient music, electronic experimentation, string composition, and visual art.
