Today we’re joined by Bennetts Grove, who have been described to me as the beating heart of Sydney’s alternative/punk scene. Inspired by the likes of Fontaines D.C. and IDLES, they’re a four piece post-punk outfit comprised of Sam Ward, their frontman, with sick-bleached hair who sings, screams and raps without hesitation, their bassist and designer of their eerie visuals Mia Betteridge, Oscar Braddy the band’s endlessly creative guitarist and Sunny Capron, the band’s drummer and mixing engineer extraordinaire.

This episode was presented to you by Zara Upfold and produced by Alex Kennedy. Out of the Box is recorded at the fbi station in Redfern, which is on unceded Gadigal Land. We pay our respects to Gadigal elders past and present and recognise the ongoing colonial violence committed across this country. Wherever you’re tuning in from in so-called Sydney, the land always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
