feel honoured to be doing my very first Out Of The Box interview with Eli Boulis, the singer/songwriter behind the Eora/Sydney based three piece “eco-punk” band For Clift (spelt f-o-r c-l-i-f-t) - transforming what might sound like a destructive piece of machinery into what - to me - sounds like a gift to nature, something for the cliffs. When he both sings and screams on stage, Eli dawns antlers and leaves as For Clift’s music centres around themes of environmentalism, freedom, love and identity. For Clift have released six EPs and on Sunday the 27th of September, their latest release Posies was gifted to the world. The band played at the Chippo that Saturday night, rocking and chatting with their friends until midnight clocked over, and everyone cheered. For Clift are have been transforming this grey city into something a little more green, one gig at a time.

This episode was presented to you by Zara Upfold, produced by Kass Vincent. Out of the Box is recorded at the fbi station in Redfern, which is on unceded Gadigal Land. We pay our respects to Gadigal elders past and present and recognise the ongoing colonial violence committed across this country. Wherever you’re tuning in from in so-called Sydney, the land always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
