Gurugayatri is an Indian-Australian writer, poet and DJ based on the land of the Wangal people of the Eora nation in Sydney’s inner west. She is a member of Sweatshop: Western Sydney Literacy Movement, and has qualifications in Law and Arts. She work in human rights policy, research and advocacy and is really passionate about pride in cultural identity and using art to affect change. She has been published in Sweatshop Women Volumes 1 and 2, Red Room Poetry, Mascara Literary Review, The Guardian and Swampland Magazine. She has read poetry at cement fondu art gallery in paddington, and djs community based events such as parramatta lanes, with democracy in colour, the women in justice network and kerfew; a south asian creative collective.
Leon Kannangara (Global Sounds)
Ceylon Sundown is a DJ and the founder of the Global Sounds based on the unceded lands of the Burramattagal people of the Darug nation (Parrramatta). His Global Sounds project captures music from the past and around the world. Highlighting the forgotten gems of Funk, Ethno grooves, Disco, and Soul music. Growing up Parramatta, his vision is to add to and radiate the multicultural society of the area through Music, Art, Design, Food and Experience.
