Good meowing, everybunny! Today I’m sharing Superfly, a solo project by Ochi Shiho. Originally the unit was formed as a duo in 2004, and Ochi first met Kōichi Tabo in 2003 while attending Matsuyama University, where their mutual fondness of classic rock and blues music brought them together. Naming themselves after the Curtis Mayfield song of the same name. Superfly can best be described as a bluesy rock outfit with pop elements, that is deeply sonically influenced by The Rolling Stones and the Australian band Jet. The band made their their major debut in 2007. Later that year, guitarist Tabo Kouichi announced that he would step down from performing as a member to focus on songwriter for Superfly and other artists. Ochi, who has a great admiration for Janis Joplin, chanced to ravel to America and visit the legendary Haight-Ashbury section of San Francisco, where she met up with Sam Andrew of Big Brother and the Holding Company.
