The ‘Bob Dylan Of Greece’, Dionysis Savvopoulous was an iconic singer-songwriter from the 60s and 70s. Born in Thessaloniki, Savvopoulos dropped out of law school in the 1960s to move to Athens. His 1966 debut album, To Fortigo (The Truck), launched a prolific career that saw him release over 14 studio albums. During the oppressive 1967–1974 Greek military dictatorship, he was imprisoned and tortured for his political activism; later weaponising his music for political resistance.
