Terms: 5 days/week

ABOUT: fbi.radio fbi.radio is an independent youth broadcaster. We target a demographic of 18-24 year olds and reach an audience of over 500,000 each month, broadcasting on 94.5 FM, DAB+ and at fbi.radio. We believe in the transformative power of music, arts and culture to inspire young people, foster community and bring positive change to Sydney and the world.
OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE: As the Music & Programming Director, you will work to ensure that fbi.radio continues to be a trusted voice for local and emerging culture across a growing number of media platforms. You will manage a team of music and programming volunteers to develop quality on-air content, grow audiences and engage the diverse communities the station serves. Additionally, you will drive a volunteer-led music and programming strategy while overseeing weekly operations and deliverables.
Responsibilities:
● Manage a team of music and programming volunteers, providing support, creative oversight and ensuring weekly deliverables are met according to stations editorial policy
● Overseeing presenter and producer rosters and arranging fi ll-ins as needed
● Run presenter training program every few months, developing and refreshing training programs as needed
● Attend and contribute to weekly music meetings
● Liaise with partnerships team in identifying music and program oriented partnerships and other income-generating opportunities
● Developing new shows and approving ideas as needed
● Oversee digital content volunteers with the Office & Volunteer Coordinator
● Assisting volunteers with playlist maintenance and scheduling
● Coordinating on-air music interviews with show presenters
● Manage fbi relationships with all levels of music industry
Key attributes, skills and experience:
● Proven experience in radio with outstanding editorial skills and judgement
● Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of individuals, including managing volunteers
● Ability to juggle demanding workload and outstanding organisational skills
● Demonstrated ability to manage projects and major content initiatives
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Deep understanding of fbi.radio style, broadcasters and program identities
● Keen understanding of the music and media landscape, and engagement with the constantly changing nature of these industries
● Understanding of station values, including a demonstrated commitment to anti-racism and equity
● A love of new music across diverse genres and emerging arts and culture, with a strong sense for uplifting independent artists
● Effective knowledge of technology for content creation, broadcast and online delivery
