Public Figures

Public FIgures band - with boxing gloves

Uncompromisingly in your face, Naarm based punk outfit, ‘Public Figures’ stir up old energy and resistance. The chaotic four-piece craft powerful songs that make a room explode with noise, underscored by catchy vocals shared by Evie Flah and Gigi Argiro. Public Figures are a non-negotiable distorted force with the live energy of The Replacements and surreal sound of Sonic Youth.

‘Punk rock - the spitting, swearing, savage pop music of rebellious youth is sweeping Naarm’ - featured on the cover of their debut EP ‘Figure it out’.

‘Onto Something’ is one of my favourite tracks from the EP, with a gritty baseline and earworm vocals you want and need to hear loud. Public Figures notably supported Amyl and the Sniffers at a packed-out Fed Square in 2025, cranking the heat up so much that the Sniffers couldn’t come on due to overcrowding issues. This is a band that embraces you like a sweaty dust storm, blowing through littered city streets and whirling you into the fray of youth and energy.

Creating punk with purpose, Public Figures is a feeling that burns like a summer day through a dirty magnifying glass.
