LOIF

Earlier this year, Naarm-based artist LOIF stepped into the fbi.radio studio ahead of the release of GHOSTOWORLD, his debut album on Steeplejack.

LOIF has long been at the forefront of experimental electronic music, having already made his mark on the Australian underground through standout releases on labels like Pure Space and Animalia.

GHOSTWORLD is the deepest dive so far into LOIF’s expertly constructed sonic universe. It’s an immersive journey through psy-infused D&B, surreal soundscapes, and ear-tickling sound design. Blurring genre boundaries while remaining club-ready, the album is a true showcase of LOIF’s range: through softer, melancholy moments and trippy pieces for the early hours before dawn.

“Obviously, the album is called GHOSTWORLD and for me, I think it just kind of captures a spooky vibe, which was the overall feeling I was trying to achieve with this release. I think I also see it a bit like an anthology of music I've made over the last five years”.

For LOIF, collaboration was a core part of the creative process, bringing in friends and fellow artists like sina, Nū, and bluhol to help shape the record’s sound.

“I really wanted to have some other voices in there, like in a very literal sense with Sina and Nū, and then also working with bluhol as well on a track. It was just really nice to see people's process and have some input other than my own into the album.”

LOIF is having an impact on dance floors across the globe, touring his live and DJ sets through Europe, Asia, and the US. His distinct sound, equal parts dark, spooky, and high-energy, has carved a unique niche.
