Over the last few years we’ve seen the triumphant rise of the Western Sydney hip-hop scene, as well as a host of names making their mark on the landscape.
One such name who has been solidly working away for years now is underground rapstress LILPIXIE. With their signature deadpan, matter-of-fact delivery, LILPIXIE has established themself as one of the most unique voices in Eora’s underground.
Getting into hip-hop through artists like Mac Miller and J Cole, Pixie sports a wordy, confessional flow as they effortlessly slide over beats from some of the city’s best producers. Though there’s a versatility that makes LILPIXIE such an exciting artist to watch. They sound just as confident making party-ready dance bangers (like their monstrous flip of Ice Spice’s “Deli”), as they do writing diary-like verses. When you turn on a new LILPIXIE track you never quite know what to expect, but you can always rely on the quality.
A big part of Pixie’s rise to the top is their collaborative approach to creating. Over the years we’ve seen them cross paths with every big name in the scene, making songs with the likes of BAYANG (tha Bushranger), BAMMER2K and agony. Though Pixie is arguably at their best when they link up with the other talented women in Eora. Working closely with local royalty like Cherry Rype, Annabelle Scobie, and most recently G Rebel, LILPIXIE shines brightest when they’re queening out with the girls.
In recent years Pixie has been a machine, churning out new tracks at an impressive pace as well as getting into directing everything from music videos to YouTube vlogs. With an impressive work ethic and strong drive to create, it’s no surprise that LILPIXIE has become a favourite among the local community. And from recent singles “LYK” and “REAL LIFE”, there’s no sign of them slowing down any time soon
