Eora based trio Durry Mums combine their suburban Australiana perspective with their punk roots to gloriously loud fun.
With single names like ‘Smith’s Chips’, ‘Don’t Blame the Dingo’, and ‘Botany View Hotel’ the three-piece band consists of Rosie (guitar & vocals), Julia (bass) and (drums). Together, they conjure up images of suburban boredom, watching the footy, going to the pub atop punk rock instrumentation that harkens back to Riot grrrl and garage rock sounds.
Heavily influenced by the sounds of pub rock, Durry Mums embrace their messy distorted guitars and stomping drums with tight knit songwriting and catchy hooks that would start a brawl in the pub.
Their most recent EP, ‘Menthol’, showcases their prowess as pub rock veterans that’s equally as fun as it is loud. With songs like ‘Keep Cup’ and the aforementioned ‘Botany View Hotel’, Durry Mums are hellbent on infusing the everyday ordinariness of Australian living with a heavy dose of lager and distortion.
