Creeping Jenny are an alt rock band making noise all across Sydney and leaking into ears across Australia. They make music that sucks you into a whirlpool of harboured tension, providing the release with distorted guitars and wailing vocals.
Named fondly after the plant, the five-piece write songs stemming from negative emotions and turn it into a wall of sound slowly being overtaken by bush. It feels like a band building strength through vulnerability in a cacophony of noise and grunge.
Earlier this year, Creeping Jenny released their sophomore EP titled ‘Sprouting from the Gums’, a nod to youth and a connection to nature. The sound is packed with emotion and carries the weight of a band pushing to make a difference. The spaces Creeping Jenny creates in between the chaos and power of noise feels sacred, a snapshot into life living in the eye of a storm.
Creeping Jenny are a band to look out for, though you’ll hear them long before you see them.
